Osamu Tezuka was a Japanese cartoonist, animator, producer, and manga artist. He is considered as the Walt Disney of Japan. Also known as the ‘father of manga,’ Osamu established the foundation of manga work in Japan. With the purpose of educating people to take care of the world, Osamu published his first manga work titled ‘Diary of Ma-chan’ (1946) at the age of 17. With time, his manga works became a phenomenon in Japan and eventually, all over the world. Some of his popular manga comics include ‘New Treasure Island’ (1947), ‘Astro Boy’ (1952-68), ‘Phoenix’ (1956-89), ‘Black Jack’ (1973-83), and ‘Buddha’ (1972-83). In 1961, Osamu became a producer and entered the animation industry. He started with the broadcast of ‘Astro Boy’ in 1963, which was the first successful animation model in the Japan industry.
