William Howard Taft was the 27th President of the U.S who also served as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He is the only person to head both the judicial and executive wings of the federal government. His high intellect and understanding of law helped him get consecutive promotions, and he soon became the youngest Solicitor General of United States. He was then appointed the Governor-General of Philippines and went on to serve as the Secretary of War before being elected as the U.S President. He brought some great reforms including ‘shirt sleeve diplomacy’ and ‘open door policy’.
