Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a lawyer and politician, who played a key role in the creation of Pakistan. He is regarded as one of the most important political figures of the Indian subcontinent during his time. Jinnah was born in Karachi in erstwhile British ruled India in 1876 and received his training as a barrister in London, before he joined the Indian National Congress. However, later on he went on to become the leader of the All India Muslim League, a party which was concerned about the rights of Muslims in India. Jinnah propagated the theory that it was impossible for Hindus and Muslims to stay together in the same country. It was this particular theory that eventually led to the partition of India. It is widely known as 'The Two Nation Theory' and it was Jinnah’s advocacy that led to the creation of Pakistan following India’s independence. Jinnah became the governor-general of independent Pakistan and remained so till his death in 1948. Jinnah remains the most revered individual in Pakistan.
