Alan Alexander Milne, better known as A. A. Milne, was an author and poet from England, who was particularly famous for being the creator of the character Winnie the Pooh. Milne was educated at the University of Cambridge and initially worked as a playwright; however it was as the writer of Winnie the Pooh in 1926 that he became famous. It was followed up by The House at Pooh Corner two year later. Other than that, he was a prolific writer who wrote children’s short story and poetry collections, newspaper columns, plays and had also been a columnist for the popular magazine Punch. He had also served in the British Army in the both the World Wars and that makes his legacy as a British icon even stronger. The rights for Winnie the Pooh was eventually given to Walt Disney corporation, who made movies, cartoons and merchandise on the character. As far as popularity is concerned, Winnie-the-Pooh is considered to be the second most popular cartoon character after Mickey Mouse. Milne had without doubt created one of the most iconic characters of all time and it completely overshadowed other great works that he had produced in his lifetime. Here are some of the select quotes from the man himself.
