Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin, who was better known as Charlie Chaplin, was an actor, music composer and movie producer, who went on to become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood during first half of the 20th century and is still considered one of its biggest icons. Chaplin grew up in extreme poverty and went through a lot of hardship during his childhood; however at the same time he became an actor on stage as well as a comedian. However, it was after moving to the United States that his fortunes soared and eventually he became the biggest star in Hollywood due to the hugely popular tramp character that he played in most of his films.
